Our Eyes

Our Eyes
By Alexandra Greer

As I look into your eyes
I see pain
Way more than can be imagined
I can almost feel it
I thought my life was hard
“I am so sorry”
You don’t budge, do you hear?
“I am sorry”
You heard me but no answer
You just kept staring
I don’t see pain anymore
But
Happiness
“What happened you were sad a second ago? Weren’t you?”
Once again no answer
“What's wrong? Why won’t you talk to me?”
I thought I was the only one in the world afraid to talk to people
You still won’t answer
“Are you scared of me?
If you are I am sorry!”
You just keep looking at me
Are you intrigued with the ugly?
“Why, I won’t answer, it is because, I don’t know what to say
I could start by saying
your eyes glow like the stars and the moon
You smile is like snow, sparkling
Your hair is lovely
I am intrigued with the beauty
I want you to know of no ugly”
What do you see in me I am just me, nothing but a small fat person?
“Look at her over there, she is lovely,
Skinny,
Gorgeous,
And not fat!”

”She may be those things but she does
Not have eyes that glow and sparkle like yours!”
